2012: The Breach (Cont.)[]
-
A week later, it happened.
SCP-079 had hacked into the site's security system, causing a massive containment breach on both Site-48 and Site-50, where all hell broke loose. Dr. Maynard had been celebrating in his office, thinking that his work was done. Only to become another victim of SCP-106. 106 continued to travel between site 48 to site 50. He went on a killing spree, wanting to savor every opportunity he had.
From there, it was every man for himself. Ben was pulled for testing with SCP-173 at the time of the breach, leaving him on his own after escaping its containment cell. Connor was pulled for testing with SCP-407, where an instance from it's containment cell escaped. Together, they stormed through the confines and into the unknown. Watch was pulled for an interview with SCP-053 when a power failure occurred. One of the technicians succumbed to 053's anomalous properties after exposure, with Watch having no effect on the anomalous effects whatsoever. Taking 053 with him, they ventured out to find answers.
Meanwhile, Site-50 was overrun by the few anomalies that had been contained deep below the underground. Agent Skinner was dispatched with a team of CI operatives to take what they needed, leaving no mercy. MTF Omega-7 "Pandora's Box" and MTF Epsilon-11 "Nine-Tailed Fox" were sent in to control the situation. Omega-7 took to Site-50 while Epsilon-11 went into Site-48. Accompanying Pandora's box was Able; SCP-076-2.
076-2 was accepted into the team within reasonable boundaries and safety protocols, and had proved itself an asset to the team. Able was ordered to locate and retrieve SCP-BKTR to a safer area and out of reach from the wrong hands. He didn't get far after coming into contact with the Yukon Man, as Skinner retrieves it after escaping Omega-7.
The two set aside their differences and storm the site; confronting any anomaly that came into contact. With Skinner on the run and being separated from Omega-7, 076-2 and SELK kept pursuit.
Back at Site-48, the remaining CI operatives escaped Omega-7 and retreated above ground, where they discovered SCP-239's containment chamber empty. 239 was one of the most dangerous Keter-class anomalies in the facility, and this meant the worst was yet to come. Before they arrived, Connor and 407-1 came across her containment cell, confronting each other unintentionally.
Before they could do anything else, the operatives entered and the two hid. 239 incapacitated 407-1 for self-defense, but Connor subdued her as he took her under his wing. He tries to fill her in on the containment breach before being persecuted by the agents. Realizing that he was only trying to help her, 239 uses her abilities to protect her new friends as they journeyed deeper into Site-48.
Ben wasn't as lucky as everyone else. He had run ins with more hostile SCP's than previously.
It wasn't until he had a run in with SCP-073 & SCP-999 that things became less stressful. 073: "Cain," the brother of Able, and 999 had escaped after Chaos Insurgency agents attacked near their containment cells. He took 999 with him before they could do any harm. Ben was severely injured through all the encounters he had. Together, the three set off to find the nearest medical bay.
Meanwhile, Watch and 053 ran into SCP-682 and SCP-079; the one responsible for the containment breach.
079 revealed Dr. Maynard's plan the past week; the leading inside operative for the Chaos Insurgency and how he bargained with him to set up the containment breach. With 682 by his side, things couldn't get any worse. Shortly after the breach, 079 was able to release 682 from containment, and found him near his containment cell, where personnel were attempting to transport 079 to a safer area.
The briefing was interrupted by Epsilon-11; subduing Watch and attempted containment of 053, but with 682 in the room, things got heated quickly. It turned into a standoff. There was only one way this was gonna end; someone had to make a choice. Watch or 682. The MTF with their weapons raised and trigger fingers at the ready, they got themselves into a tight fix.
Suddenly one of the operatives started shooting at the balcony; Skinner was running across, breaking for it as he tried not to be seen. The MTFs had been distracted at just the right moment, as Watch broke free, dashed for 079 and booked it out the door to the nearest elevator. Skinner was heading towards SCP-914's containment chamber. As a last resort; he was going to make use of BKTR to destroy the foundation once and for all.
682 took this opportunity as well, wiping out the team and busting down the doors to Gate B, making his way to the sunlight where the rest of the MTF were ready for attack.
What was left of the Chaos Insurgency was being handled by either the different groups of personnel and anomalies scattered throughout the foundation, or had been taken care of from both MTF units in both sites.
Eventually, it all came down to Skinner and the rest of the unconfined anomalies. SCP-049, 1048, 096, 407, 053, 073, 079 and 999 were successfully re-contained. Once the facility was back in control, the rest of the surviving personnel, MTF, and anomalies found Skinner in SCP-914's containment chamber. By the time they found him, it was too late. Skinner put himself into SCP-914; "The Clockworks," and set the machine to "Very Fine," combining him and BKTR into an abomination capable of mass destruction.
With all the anomalies left, both MTF units and personnel at the ready, they threw everything they had at him; but to no avail. He easily overpowered everyone. Even 682, to his best efforts. Finally, with one last use of his powers, he obliterates Site-48; sacrificing himself in the process.
Miraculously, the majority of staff remaining in Site-48 survived the blast, including the team of personnel and anomalies. Among the remaining MTF operatives were captains and officers that took charge in relocation and immediate containment of all anomalies, and appropriate measures were taken for all personnel involved.
The whole site transferred to Site-50, where it had survived the blast of SCP-BKTR, now reclassified as neutralized. From there, the remaining SCP's were re-contained, security was strictly enforced, and slowly but surely, everything went back to normal. But now the foundation had a new problem on their hands: what now?
One of two sites they had was now destroyed as a result of a containment breach, and they couldn't expand what was left of Site-50 given the resources they had now. For the rest of the time being, the foundation made plans to expand on a global scale; international counterparts had been formed over the next 10 years, and with more anomalies being discovered and contained, the foundation created more sites to move other anomalies, including research sites, testing, or for any matter they saw fit.
Site-50 was transformed into an MTF-unit living quarters for all MTF units and personnel. Ever since 2012, the foundation expanded tremendously. But pretty soon, all of it would come crashing down again. But this time, it would cause the destruction of the human race.
