Item #: 6000

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The perimeter around SCP-6000’s management facility is to be kept void of any non-staff individuals. In the event that an individual we’re to somehow locate SCP-6000, they are to be given amnestic treatment immediately after the encounter. If amnestics are not available within 3 days of the encounter, the individual or individuals involved are to be given lethal injections. The management facility of SCP-6000 is also to be kept void of any non-staff individuals.

in the event that the coordinates are released, declassified by United Nations, or other wise compromised, charges are in place around 2 kilometers deep below the surface. These charges are to be immediately detonated by staff upon the compromising of the coordinates and the base is to immediately be abandoned. Any and all gold must be relocated to the SCP Foundation’s main vault and marked immediately available for all budget purposes.

Description: SCP-6000 is a large forest in which all trees are solid gold located several hundred meters in an air pocket beneath the ice in Antarctica. The true age of the being is unknowable, but it is theorized to be roughly 135,000 years old. The surveying of various physicists and biologists has revealed that such a forest’s existence should be impossible based on the the properties of gold alone.

The temperature around SCP-6000 is around 300 degrees Celsius. The air around SCP-6000 has very little oxygen, despite the entity being a forest. Water in a gaseous form has been detected in high amounts around the forest, the cause of which has already been discovered. In a certain radius around SCP-6000, the frozen water within the icecaps melts due to the unnaturally high temperature. This is likely the cause of the air pocket around SCP-6000, as well as the high concentration of gaseous water.

Despite being a forest, SCP-6000 is theorized to be one continuous organism. The roots below the trees of SCP-6000 have grown so deep into the Earth that they have been theorized to converge into one large continuous root due to the Earth being a sphere. Excavations of the roots have revealed that they are at least 0.3 kilometers deep. Excavations have also revealed that every tree within SCP-6000 doesn’t have multiple different roots, but instead have a single large root that extends straight downward.

Instances of SCP-6000 have been reported all over the world, but SCP-6000-0 is the only confirmed location. The most likely reported instance was reported to exist in Boffin Island, Canada. However, the existence of a second a forest isn’t verifiable. Several other locations have been theorized, but, as of May 11, 2017, none have been investigated or verified.
